Most Powerwall owners run their battery on factory defaults that know nothing about their rate plan. Grid Getter dispatches your battery against your actual rates, every 60 seconds, so the system you paid for finally pays you back.
I run a Powerwall on SRP, here in the Phoenix area. A few summers ago I watched one 30-minute spike set my whole month's bill, even though I'd been careful the other 719 half-hours. The Tesla app had no idea my demand window was open. So I wrote a script to fight it.
The script worked — until it quietly died during the exact peak it existed to catch. That's when I built Grid Getter: the version that watches every 60 seconds, aligned to the utility's actual billing interval, and never needs me to maintain it.
